Why our Ministry at CERMICOL Matters

In the early days of Haiti Awake, God put it on both Steeve’s heart and my heart to begin an outreach at CERMICOL, a prison for juvenile offenders in Delmas.   Gaining access to the prison was a long, tedious process, but through persistence and gaining trusting relationships with those in authority, we’ve been able to establish weekly ministry at the facility.

When I came across this video that is linked below, I was struck by its accuracy - and it’s ability to show you, our friends, the inside of a place that has become dear to our hearts, as well as part of our weekly routine.

I encourage you to take 15 minutes to learn about the Haitian gang problem, the way it impacts youth, and what happens when young people make choices that are difficult for them to reverse.

To those who have given so generously to make sure this ministry continues, we thank you. You may never see or know the impact of your gifts, but we can assure you the young men we see each week are blessed and encouraged by your kindness.
