In Loving Memory
“Fear is not my future.”
Those were words Becky Graves spoke often as she courageously walked through her battle with cancer. They were more than words of encouragement. They reflected the faith with which she chose to live.
On September 10, 2026, Haiti Awake lost our beloved Executive Director, friend, advocate, and faithful servant, Becky Graves.
Becky gave generously of herself to Haiti Awake and to the people of Haiti. Her leadership was never simply about overseeing an organization. She cared deeply about the people behind the ministry—the children, families, staff, sponsors, donors, and friends whose lives became intertwined through Haiti Awake.
She believed in the Haitian people. She championed them, prayed for them, advocated for them, and formed genuine friendships with those Haiti Awake serves. What began as ministry became deeply personal.
Even as cancer brought pain, uncertainty, and tremendous challenges into her own life, Becky continued to serve and lead. She refused to allow fear to determine how she would face the future.
Cancer may have ended her earthly battle, but fear did not win.
Becky fought bravely. She loved deeply. She served faithfully.
The impact of her life cannot be measured simply by the programs she helped lead or the work she accomplished. It is also found in the children who were given opportunities, the families who received encouragement and help, the relationships that crossed borders, and the countless people who witnessed her faith and determination.
Her absence will be deeply felt throughout the Haiti Awake family.
Yet the work into which Becky poured so much of her heart will continue. The seeds she planted, the relationships she nurtured, and the lives she touched remain part of her legacy.
Her voice may now be silent, but her life still speaks.
Fear was not her future.
Faith was.
And her legacy will continue.
We remain grateful for the life she lived, the faith she demonstrated, and the lasting impact she made through Haiti Awake. Becky’s influence will continue to be seen in the lives she touched, the relationships she nurtured, and the ministry she helped shape.
She will be loved.
She will be missed.
And she will not be forgotten.
Rest well, Becky. You fought bravely, loved generously, and served faithfully.
