January trip to Haiti

Vince Rogers of Aprann and I had the opportunity to travel to Port-au-Prince for a week in January. Aprann has been a dear friend to Haiti Awake for years, helping us set up our computer labs at both CCS locations and educating our staff so that they can empower others for learning. We were all incredibly blessed and encouraged by Vince’s presence.

Our time with friends went much too quickly, but I was impressed by the continued work of our staff members at Haiti Awake, and I was encouraged by the kindness of so many in the community who support what we are doing.

The church continues to grow, connecting people with God and each other, and in January we were able to celebrate the 6th anniversary together.

Our community programs continue to grow - to thrive - even as we hear the unfortunate news of so many other ministries having to cut back on outreach or completely close their doors all-together.

We had a staff meeting while I was there, and I reminded our staff: “You are our greatest asset.” I completely believe that. We have 15 people who are fulling our mission: “Empowering Haitian believers to reach their own country for Christ.”

Idelmy and Lorvens came to visit from Cap Haitien, and the “big boys” came for church. We don’t get much time together anymore, but the moments we share are even more precious than ever. I love these boys so much.

I think they might love me just a little bit, too.

There were plenty of hugs at CERMICOL, and this was the first face-to-face meeting I had been allowed there with most of the boys in over 6 months. Some of them had grown so much. I was surprised at their height, and they were so proud of themselves.

Thank you to those who continue to partner with us month-by-month. Your investment in our ministry is something that we highly value, and we are humbled by your trust.
